CAFE SLAT WALL

I led the schematic design and design development of this slat feature wall that connects this revamped cafe area to the above and below renovated office floors for a long withstanding client that has several properties throughout the city that we’ve collaborated on. This particular project challenged us to envision a simple yet subtly sophisticated architectural gesture to serve as the connective tissue between their most social hub, the cafe, and their more private workplace areas. by extending the existing wood finishes from the floor below, and transforming this material from veneer cladding into slats, we were able to craft a design language and narrative that best suited this space. Ultimately, the client and the design team was most drawn to the segmented and slanted slats design direction that I ideated due to the dynamism it provided the surrounding areas depending on what perspective you were looking at or through the slats.
