Student Project:
This project was uniquely conceived because we were tasked with developing a structural system prior to selecting a site or program. By combining two conventional materials, concrete and wood, in unconventional methods, an innovative building typology was created. Being situated on a prominently public site, I was driven to integrate program and spaces that welcomed people from all paths. Connectivity to the harborwalk and skyline views across the channel were maintained by carefully manipulating the building form. As you circulate through and around the building you gain glimpses of the solid/void relationships that produce a heightened sense of intrigue and dynamism throughout the site.
